AI Code of Conduct
UKIM - Signatory to the Code of Conduct for the use of AI in Claims
The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is growing, along with its potential to transform customer experience across a multitude of sectors. It represents a significant leap in the way businesses engage with their audiences and its proper use is key in supporting an ethical customer journey.
That’s why we’re proud to have signed up to the AI Code of Conduct. This voluntary code of conduct for the use of Artificial Intelligence in claims serves to guide the actions of those involved in the claims process and to assure claimants that due consideration is given to the proper use of AI.
The code itself has been deliberately drafted to reflect government guidance on the key issues that should be considered when adopting AI, including:
- Safety, security and robustness
- Transparency
- Fairness
- Accountability and governance
- Contestability and redress
UKIM Managing Director, Ian Scanlan explains why UKIM has joined other signatories in building trust within the claims industry: “For the last 21 years we have always had a clear purpose to deliver outstanding customer service to all of our customers. As an independent health services company we are dealing with people every day on a clinical basis and therefore trust becomes hugely important. Having commenced our tech journey last year, it felt right for us to sign this code of best practice and commit ourselves to the highest standards of behaviour and ethical responsibility in AI.”
