We’re delighted to welcome Dr Nick Athey as our new Chief Medical Officer (CMO) here at UKIM.
Where Did It All Begin?
So, I’ve been a doctor for 25 years and I’m a specialist in Emergency Medicine. I trained at Newcastle University and worked all over the North East before taking up a consultant post in Middlesbrough at The James Cook University Hospital in 2009.
I’ve been a medicolegal expert for about 15 years and find using my clinical knowledge to help claimants navigate the legal process very rewarding.
A New Start At UKIM…
I am very excited to have joined UKIM and to be working within the expert liaison team. I will be looking at internal processes and governance matters, as well as reviewing challenging cases and resolving any clinical issues that may crop up. I’ll be onsite once a week and am really looking forward to the challenge and making a difference.
Fun Facts:
In my spare time I keep bees and enjoy eating their honey on my porridge every morning. I’m also a keen cyclist and enjoy taking my bike on holiday to places like Italy, France and Spain.
